M.Sc./Ph.D.
There
are two postgraduate degrees by research offered by the Institute:
- MSc
Entry Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree with good Honours, or equivalent, from a recognized university.Period of study:
Minimum-2 semesters, Maximum-10 semesters
- PhD
Entry Requirements:
Master of Science degree with good standing, or equivalent, from a recognized university.
Period of study:
Minimum-4 semesters, Maximum-16 semesters
At the discretion
of the supervisor, a candidate may be required
to
take courses offered by the Institute.
These
programmes provide comprehensive training in research in various areas of mathematical
sciences presently being carried out at the institute. These include but are not limited
to areas like algebra, analysis, artificial intelligence, atomic collision processes,
combinatorics, computer-aided graphics design, differential geometry, mathematical
modelling, mathematics education, multivariate methods, non-linear regression, numerical
analysis, optimization, quantum collision and tunelling processes, statistical
distributions and modelling, stochastic processes and investment. A list of the staff
members with a brief description of their research interests is given below. Prospective
candidates are requested to contact the staff members directly for a possible research
topic. Alternatively, a research proposal may be submitted for consideration.
